Offshore Oil Platform Floating Body

Offshore oil platforms also usually adopt floating structures and use floating bodies to aid flotation. These floating bodies can be divided into different types, including steel semi-submersible platforms, floating production and storage vessels (FPSO), drilling platforms, etc.

Steel semi-submersible platform is a common type of offshore oil platform, which is composed of multiple floating bodies. These floating bodies are designed to have greater buoyancy. By adjusting the relative proportion of water and air in the floating body, the buoyancy and sinking degree of the platform can be controlled. By adding or subtracting water and air within the float, the buoyancy of the platform can be adjusted to maintain it in the desired position.

A floating production and storage vessel (FPSO) is a ship-type platform that integrates oil production and storage functions. It usually consists of a main floating body and ancillary anchor chain system. The main buoyancy body has enough buoyancy to keep the platform afloat on the sea surface and can be fixed in the desired position by the anchor chain system.

Drilling platforms are also a common type of offshore oil platforms. It usually consists of one or more floating bodies that provide buoyancy to the platform. By adjusting the buoyancy of the floating body, the drilling platform can be maintained in the desired position for oil exploration and drilling operations.

In general, offshore oil platforms use floating bodies to assist in floating so that the platform can work stably at sea. By properly designing and controlling the buoyancy of the floating body, the safety and stability of the platform can be ensured to meet the needs of oil exploration and production.
